How Pair handles your data

Pair is there to give you good notes from your meetings. Here’s what that takes, and what it doesn’t.

Only what it needs
Pair keeps only what it needs to give you your notes. Your meetings and notes live on your Mac. If you back them up to your Pair account, they're kept there too, so your other Macs have them.
The sound of your meetings
Pair doesn't save the sound of your meetings, on your Mac or on Pair's server. It goes from your Mac to be transcribed as you talk. The only exception is a setting that keeps a test recording on your Mac. It's off unless you turn it on, and it's only for testing.
Writing your notes
Pair uses models from Anthropic and xAI to transcribe your meetings and write your notes. Pair's server passes your transcript and notes along to write them, and doesn't keep them unless you back up your meetings.
Your voice
What Pair learns about your voice, and the voices in the room, never leaves your Mac.
Encrypted connections
Everything Pair sends, to its own server and to the models, travels over encrypted connections.
Your sign-in
It stays in your Mac's Keychain.
Crash reports
If Pair crashes, it can tell us where in its code that happened. Never what was said, typed or written, and never names, titles or keys. You can turn this off in Pair's Settings, under Privacy.
Never sold
We never sell your data.
